MESTRE PROJECTS was founded in 2010 with a core philosophy of collaborating and building temporary projects around the world in order to exhibit recent works by select contemporary artists. Its close relationship with artists has allowed Mestre Projects to present museum quality exhibitions both on the primary and secondary markets, creating a dialogue between several generations of artists.
The founder of Mestre Projects is José Mestre, a highly regarded art dealer, collector, and collaborator with various museums and foundations. Most recently, Mestre ́s activities have decanted into the opening of permanent exhibition space at Albany, an exclusive one of a kind community within New Providence, Bahamas.
Housed inside “The Honeycomb”, a signature hexagonal building designedby the award-winning architect Bjarke Ingels, Mestre Projects will continue to feature projects that exhibit the best and most challenging contemporary, post war, and modern art. The Danish-born Ingels is world renowned for many projects, such as the design concept of the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion in London.
The convenience of The Bahamas and its strategic global position has made it a strong international center of culture since the archipelago’s founding as a British Commonwealth in the 17th century to the present day. MESTRE PROJECTS will open its doors December 2017.
