Matthew David Rahming
Matthew David Rahming (born in 1997, The Bahamas) is an emerging interdisciplinary artist. Inspired by abstract-expressionist, Rahmings practice is anchored around introspection and observation. Therefore, Rahming's work carries contradictions. Undercurrents and overtones of violence and fragility are layered with gentle mediations and reflections of the diligent persistence of life. His choice of materials and symbols serves to stretch the inherent tensions present in the work. They also function to frame the perspective of the audience, acting as a direct extension of his reinterpretation of his environment.
In 2017, he had his first solo exhibition, "TUFF" at the University of The Bahamas' 'Pro Gallery,' His work was also chosen to exhibit in the 10th National Exhibition at The National Art Gallery of The Bahamas in 2022. and his second solo show, "I know a river" at The D'Aguilar Art Foundation in 2023. In 2024 Mestre Projects exhibited “Wings of a dove” a solo exhibition of drawings by Rahming, his first showing as an represented artist of the gallery.
